Since the Supreme Court ruling on June 24, the Stronghold leadership team has been in shock. The landmark decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has severe implications for the United States. It turns back decades of progress on reproductive rights and abortion access. With trigger laws already banning abortions in six states and several others poised to pass within the next few days, millions of women, transgender, and non-binary individuals now find themselves stripped of agency over their bodies. Many suddenly face a future where they might be forced to carry unwanted or dangerous pregnancies to term. As a woman-led company, we cannot overemphasize the danger this brings to the futures of bright, driven and dedicated humans across America. It is our opinion that abortion is undeniably healthcare. This loss of reproductive freedom represents a devastating blow to the future of American freedom, investment, and talent.
While Stronghold is based out of California, a state moving to protect abortion and contraception access in its state constitution, we recognize the increasingly borderless nature of the workforce and the tremendous negative impact of this decision on the entire country. We are proud to share that we will be creating a new policy that will cover all abortion-related care and travel expenses for Stronghold employees no matter where in the country they reside. We will also cover travel expenses for an additional person - such as a friend or family member - to provide personal support.
