How to Upgrade Your ERC20 SHx Tokens

If you hold ERC20 SHx tokens, you'll need to upgrade them to the new contract before using upcoming Stronghold services. This guide walks you through the process step by step.

Why upgrade? The new contract keeps your tokens compatible with Stronghold's ecosystem and protects your funds.

Step 1: Read the FAQ First
The FAQ covers every scenario, from checking your token version to troubleshooting missing balances. Start there to determine if your tokens need upgrading.

The guide includes:

  • A flowchart to determine if your SHx needs upgrading
  • Wallet troubleshooting tips
  • Transaction timing and visibility details
  • Verified token contract links

Reading this first prevents errors and protects you from scammers.

Step 2: Verify Token Addresses

Always use the official SHx contract addresses:

Original SHx: http://etherscan.io/token/0xEe7527841A932d2912224E20a405e1a1FF747084
New SHx: http://etherscan.io/token/0x516d31321928700C6B4fB0DB0c8c6BC5d6799787

⚠️ Do not add SHx tokens with any other contract addresses.

Step 3: Add the New Token to Your Wallet

Manually add the new SHx contract so upgraded tokens appear correctly:

  1. Open your wallet → "Import Token" or "Add Custom Token"
  2. Paste the NEW SHx contract address: 0x516d31321928700C6B4fB0DB0c8c6BC5d6799787
  3. Confirm details (you should see SHX as the token name with 7 decimals, if not, enter that).
  4. Save

🕓 Note: Balances may take time to update. If your transaction shows on Etherscan but tokens aren't visible yet, wait a bit.

Step 4: Confirm Your Upgrade

After your transaction completes:

  • Check for the new SHx token balance in your wallet
  • Verify the transaction on Etherscan
  • Save your transaction hash

If tokens don't appear, check your balances on the upgrade page and consult the FAQ troubleshooting section.

Step 5: Stay Secure

The upgrade is straightforward when you follow the official FAQ.

Final Reminder

Your ERC20 SHx tokens must be upgraded to ensure accessibility and interoperability for future Stronghold services. If you skip this step and send your tokens to services only accepting the new ERC20 token your funds may be at risk.

Verify everything. Use only official resources. Your diligence keeps your SHx safe and ready for what's next.
